It’s funny how often a security expert is asked questions like ‘are you a hacker’ or ‘can you define the word hacker’. It’s equally as funny the response you’ll get from script kiddies who get mad because ‘the media has distorted the definition’. I’m tired of hearing the stupid arguments so I’ve decided to give my two cents.
My answer. Who the frig cares?
If you considered yourself a hacker back when you were mashing keys on your commy64 and you’re pissed because the media has changed the definition, it’s time to just let it go. I’m not too worried about labels, if you know what you are and what you do then don’t worry about putting a single word label on yourself. The word has been hijacked(DNS poisoned?), time to move on.
